Advocates Library Parliament House Edinburgh EH1 1RF
We are pleased to announce that Tim Haddow joined the Hastie Stable following his admission as an Advocate on 15 July 2016, adding to the already broad range of counsel available for instruction.
Tim is the only Chartered Engineer at the Scottish Bar and holds a first class honours degree in Engineering in addition to his legal qualifications. He will be well placed to tackle disputes or FAIs where his understanding of technology, engineering or project management will be an immediate advantage, both to instructing agents and their clients. He also hopes to develop a practice in public law work, building on his experience of time spent working in the Office of the Advocate General for Scotland, dealing mainly with immigration judicial reviews.
Tim's other legal experience includes general public and commercial litigation; professional regulation; property; employment and private client work. He also brings his experience as a charity trustee, former member of the Children's Panel and campaigner for fairer access to the legal profession. His previous career in the Royal Navy gives him particular insight into the demands, challenges and circumstances faced by members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Tim is fresh from the Faculty of Advocates' assessed advocacy training. This included spells devilling to Morag Ross, one of the leading practitioners in public and commercial litigation; to Steve Love, a highly experienced advocate involved in personal injury, health and safety and Fatal Accident Inquiries; and to Tommy Ross, President of the Scottish Criminal Bar Association and one of the most experienced criminal defence juniors.
Tim will be available for instruction across the full range of Courts and Tribunals, and for Opinion work. He is also interested in opportunities to draw on his legal knowledge and practical experience to assist agents with their training and development requirements.
