Leigh Lawrie

Leigh has returned to practice after completing her work in The Hague. Leigh called to the Bar in July 2010 and shortly thereafter joined the team prosecuting Charles Taylor. Leigh assisted with the written and oral submissions in the closing stages of the trial.

Taylor, the former president of Liberia, is on trial before the Special Court for Sierra Leone. He faces 11 charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other serious violations of international humanitarian law. As at the time of Leigh’s return, final submissions in the trial have concluded and a judgement is awaited.

The trial made headlines due to the testimony of the supermodel, Naomi Campbell and actress Mia Farrow.
