Areas of Practice

Linda is highly experienced advocate in all areas of employment law and has appeared in Employment Tribunals throughout Scotland and in England, the Employment Appeal Tribunal, the Outer House and the Inner House of the Court of Session and is due to appear in the Supreme Court in May 2013. Prior to being called to the Bar, her previous employment, as an Assistant Director in the former Strathclyde Regional Council means that she has had invaluable first-hand experience of holding a senior management position and of addressing  employment issues, arising in large organisations, particularly in the public sector.  During that time she was involved in the preparation of what were probably the two most significant equal pay cases decided, in favour of the employer respondents,  by the Judicial Committee of the House of Lords in the 1990s. Linda has both advised and appeared for a significant number of Scottish local authorities, including police authorities, as well as advising and appearing for a number of major global and multinational companies in the private sector, including Coca-Cola, Vodafone and Shell International. Linda also retains an interest in and knowledge of aviation law having held a pilot’s licence, including a Flying Instructor Rating, for over 20 years.
