Areas of Practice

Jacqueline called to the English Bar in 1995 after undertaking her pupillage in the leading public and planning law chambers of Landmark Chambers and Francis Taylor Buildings.  Since calling to the Scots Bar in 1997, she has developed a practice in all areas of administrative and constitutional law, education and housing law.  This has involved appearing in statutory appeals as well as judicial reviews.  Jacqueline has also appeared before the Additional Support Needs Tribunal on a number of occasions.  In addition to this, Jacqueline has developed a practice in all aspects of property and planning law and has appeared in a numerous public local inquiries for both planning authorities as well as developers ranging from local plan inquiries, retail schemes, housing developments to compulsory purchase.  Jacqueline has significant experience of appearing in the appellate courts.  She was junior Counsel in the House of Lords in Axis West Developments Ltd v Chartwell Land Investments Ltd (HL) 1999 LT 1416 which related to servitudes and junior counsel in the House of Lords in Standard Commercial Property Securities Ltd v Glasgow City Council (HL) 2007 SC 33 which was concerned with the scope of a planning authorities powers to enter into an indemnity agreement with a developer when deciding to exercising its powers of compulsory purchase.  Jacqueline was also instructed and appeared as junior counsel in her capacity as an English Barrister for the Interveners (Glasgow City Council) in both the Court of Appeal and House of Lords case of Al-Ameri & Osmani v. Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (HL) [2004] 2 WLR 354 which was concerned with the dispersal of homeless asylum seekers.
