Since being admitted in July 2016, Tim has been instructed in a range of matters including immigration, human rights, housing, property, procurement and debt actions. He has appeared in the Upper Tribunal, the Outer and Inner Houses of the Court of Session, the High Court of Justiciary and at Sheriff Court level. Tim is the only Chartered Engineer at the Scottish Bar. He is therefore uniquely placed to bring his technical and legal skills to bear on disputes or inquiries involving engineering, technology or project management issues.
Prior to becoming an advocate, Tim worked in private practice and on secondment to the Office of the Advocate General. His legal experience includes general public and commercial litigation; procurement challenges; personal injury; health and safety; fatal accident inquiries; professional regulation; property; private client work; employment and criminal trials.
Before retraining for the legal profession, Tim served as a naval officer in a variety of operational, engineering, procurement and information technology roles at sea and ashore. He also brings to his practice his experience as a charity trustee, a former member of the Children's Panel and a campaigner for fairer access to the legal profession.
