Damages - Personal Injury - Solatium - Interest

Alison Stirling was junior counsel for a pursuer who sought damages in respect of serious sexual abuse perpetrated on him in the 1960s.  The Inner House allowed interest on the sum of £50,000 from 1966 to the date of decree at the rate of 4% per annum, interest on the sum of £25,000 from 1966 to date of decree at the rate of 2% per annum, and interest on the sum of £75,000 and on the capitalised amounts of interest at 8% per annum from the date of decree until payment.
