General information
Arabella has an established practice, specialising in high value, complex personal injury and clinical negligence claims. She acts for both pursuers and defenders.
Arabella practised as a barrister in England before calling at the Scottish Bar in 1995. She has conducted proofs in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts. She has appeared before the House of Lords, the Inner House and before the Sheriff Principal at appeal.
Arabella is regularly instructed in high value catastrophic injury actions, involving complex issues of liability and quantification. Recent cases pursued have resulted in seven figure settlements of up to £3.5 million Her practice covers all areas of reparation, including accidents at work, road traffic accidents, industrial diseases (including asbestos-related litigation and HAVS) and occupiers’ liability.
Arabella has acted is a wide range of clinical negligence cases, including claims against hospital doctors, GPs and dentists, with particular emphasis on gynaecological and obstetric negligence. Arabella was counsel for the successful pursuer in Simmons v British Steel 2004 SC (HL) 94, a leading House of Lords authority on remoteness in causation in negligence.
