Prior to calling at the Bar, Alan trained with Tods Murray Solicitors where he gained experience of commercial property; wills, trust and executries; residential conveyancing; litigation and rural estates conveyancing. He has appeared as Counsel in many tribunals, including the House of Lords, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, Court of Session – Inner and Outer House, Commercial Court, Sheriff Courts, before Sheriff Principal on Appeal, Industrial/Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal, Local Authority Committees and the Traffic Commissioner.
Alan is frequently instructed to represent pursuers or defenders in commercial, reparation and property disputes.
His intellectual ability, attention to detail, approachable nature and broad experience means that he is highly regarded amongst his peers and his instructing agents as a hard working, highly effective member of the Scottish Bar.
